Job Description
Due to our continued growth, we are now looking for a Graduate / Acoustics Consultant to join our team. The role would suit recent graduates or those with 2-3 years’ experience. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build their career in environmental acoustics with a specific focus on renewable energy projects. For the right person, there will also be opportunity to gain experience in other technical disciplines including but not limited to Shadow Flicker and Glint & Glare assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking noise and vibration impact assessments for a range of development types, particularly renewable energy projects.
- Providing clear, pragmatic acoustic design and mitigation advice to clients.
- Working closely with senior consultants to produce high-quality reports, including data analysis, noise modelling and figure production.
- Installing, maintaining and decommissioning monitoring equipment on sites across the UK, but predominantly in northern England and Scotland.
- Collaborating with clients and other stakeholders to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Performing shadow flicker assessments to evaluate potential impacts on surrounding areas due to wind turbine operations (training provided).
- Carrying out glint and glare assessments to assess potential visual impacts on sensitive receptors, particularly from solar energy projects (training provided).
About you
We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about acoustics and the wider renewable energy industry. The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Acoustics, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A strong interest in renewable energy, particularly wind and solar energy developments.
- An exceptional eye for detail and the ability to provide concise, pragmatic solutions to clients.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to regularly work from our York office would be preferable to facilitate training.
- Familiarity with GIS and noise modelling software (e.g., SoundPLAN) is welcomed, but not essential).
- Full UK driving license.
