Alan ensures that all Metrica deliverables are robust, pragmatic and defensible throughout the planning process and beyond.
Alan is a Director at Metrica, responsible for ensuring the highest quality output. Alan was previously the acoustics technical lead at a global environmental consultancy, and has over 14 years’ experience of the assessment of environmental noise, with a particular specialism in wind turbine noise. As a member of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), Alan has substantial experience in Environmental Impact Assessment and has worked as the lead acoustics consultant on numerous renewable schemes throughout the UK, Ireland and internationally, often in complex cumulative environments.
Alan has worked in all aspects of environmental noise assessment, from scoping and consultation, through background noise surveys and modelling, to reporting, condition discharge, planning appeal and hearing support and review of third-party assessments. In addition to numerous large-scale wind farm EIA projects at planning stage (both onshore and offshore), Alan has significant experience of the wider renewable sector including Glint and Glare assessment of solar PV developments, hydroelectric schemes and energy storage / reserve power facilities.
Martin Stevenson

Martin is passionate about making acoustics simple. He ensures that all Metrica deliverables clearly identify measures required to ensure compliance with relevant environmental standards.
Originally from a background in noise and vibration control, Martin is a Director at Metrica, having previously led the acoustics team at a large multidisciplinary environmental consultancy. Martin has over 15 years’ experience of the assessment of noise, vibration and shadow flicker impacts, and is a corporate member of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA).
Martin has experience working in all aspects of environmental noise assessment throughout the project cycle, including scoping and consultation, baseline surveys, data analysis, noise modelling and reporting, through to condition discharge, operational monitoring and complaint resolution.
In addition to acting as the lead acoustics and shadow flicker consultant on a wide range of EIA developments in the property, energy and infrastructure sectors, Martin has a wealth of experience in complaint resolution, design of noise mitigation, long-term noise and vibration monitoring and HSE Noise and Vibration at Work assessments.
Emily Tilbury

Emily is a Senior Consultant at Metrica, responsible for the modelling, assessment and reporting of environmental impacts for a wide range of projects. She has over nine years’ experience in the renewables sector and has worked on numerous renewable energy schemes throughout the UK and Ireland including wind farms, solar PV facilities, battery energy storage / grid balancing systems, substations / cable routes and hydrogen production. Emily holds an MSc, BEng(hons), and is a corporate member of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA).
In addition to renewables, she has substantial technical experience in specialist sectors including aquaculture, aerospace and architectural acoustics. Emily is also an expert in solar glint and glare assessment, wind turbine shadow flicker, Geographical Information Systems, and works to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) careers to students across Scotland.
Mae'r Davis

With over 15 years’ experience in acoustics, Mae'r is our Senior Consultant, primarily responsible for projects in the South of England. She is well-versed in the preparation of assessments for the renewables sector and has worked on numerous renewable energy schemes throughout the UK and Ireland including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Gas Peaking Plants, grid balancing systems and solar PV developments.
In addition to acoustics, Mae’r's specialisms include solar glint and glare, wind turbine shadow flicker, and air quality monitoring and assessment. Mae'r also has substantial experience in the construction sector including the preparation of Noise Management Plans noise and vibration monitoring, along with extensive experience working in specialist sectors such as noise from entertainment and sporting venues. Mae'r is a corporate member of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA) and the Institution of Environmental Sciences (MIEnvSc).
Jo Thomas

Jo is our Environmental Consultant specialising in the assessment and reporting of Glint & Glare, Telecommunications and Shadow Flicker Impacts. She has 3 years’ experience of project management and environmental impact assessment and has worked on numerous renewable energy schemes throughout the UK. In addition to her technical disciplines, Jo has completed the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification for Project Management and has provided project support on a number of renewable energy schemes across the UK for both large and small scale wind developments.
